Off mainland Portugal, a dive in the refreshing waters of the Berlengas Islands is well worthwhile, allowing you to discover the flora and fauna that populate these islands off the coast of Peniche.
Further south, your next stop could be in Sesimbra, one of the favourite locations for Portuguese divers in recent years. Going past Setúbal, there’s an immense expanse of sea to discover. Good diving locations can be found all along the coast of the Alentejo province. Take a trip to Sines, Porto Covo, Vila Nova de Milfontes and Zambujeira do Mar, among many other great diving sites.
In the Algarve, Sagres stands apart with its beautiful seabed.
Then there are the islands. In Madeira, the Garajau Reserve is famous with divers worldwide, and Porto Santo has unexpected tropical scenery.
In the Azores archipelago, there are astounding dive locations to be discovered. The likes of Flores, Terceira, Faial and São Miguel are now starting to appear on the list of renowned world diving locations.
