The beaches of Costa Vicentina/
The beaches of Costa Vicentina
Place: Ilha do Pessegueiro

For a relaxed week of seaside holidays, the Costa Vicentina has beaches surrounded by a protected and almost untouched natural environment. Come and discover.

Costa Vicentina beaches are an excellent alternative for those seeking a break away from the crowds. Taking a little longer to reach, these beaches have remained pretty much as nature created them with some still totally deserted. For those prepared to take that little step further, the rewards are huge. There are both broad expanses of fine, white sands and small beaches tucked in between rocky headlands. And you may well fine you have the entire beach and the welcoming sea all to yourself. And the temperatures are always pleasant in this southerly region.

Classics among the many beaches are those of Vale dos Homens, Murração and Carriagem, in the Aljezur area.
Head up coast a little and there is the island beach of Pessegueiro where a short hop by boat takes you to the Roman remains out on the island. On the mainland, visit the peaceful coastal town of Porto Covo.

Further to the north, but still prior to the Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina Natural Park, take a detour to the beaches of Brejos - a hidden treasure on the Tróia peninsula or, alternatively the pretty but remote Aberta Nova. And for a spot of seaside lunching, try some of the fresh fish at the beach restaurants.
