Begin your night out with friends and family, with dinner on one of the terrace restaurants in Foz. The beachside restaurants feature both the best in northern cuisine and the excellent Douro wines.
On the other side of the river, the Cais de Gaia has the best views back over Porto, and is an area growing in popularity. In the Bogani café, listen to some poetry or simply enjoy the comfort and sophistication of the Stark designed furniture.
For a relaxed evening out, try the jazz and a couple of after dinner drinks in B-Flat, in Matosinhos. Nearby, the Estado Novo disco opens its doors to all those wanting more contemporary dance music.
And for the original and best night out in Porto, head down to the Ribeira, a historic neighbourhood that has seen many great celebrations. Visit one of the taverns dotted along its steep streets and order a ‘fino’ (a glass of draught beer) accompanied by salted lupin seeds, a plate of smoked ham or a grilled smoked sausage.
And if you want to carry on in to the small hours you can dance the night away in the city’s industrial zone, the area home to many discos and clubs.
