Observing nature, stopping for lunch, taking some photographs, and admiring the fantastic landscape with its great variety of fauna and flora, this is undoubtedly a relaxing way to spend the day. You can walk along marked footpaths or follow the map, taking whichever route you prefer. There are various themes you can choose for these country walks, ranging from nature to culture and history, amongst others. With varying lengths, the different walks are accessible to everyone, and the only thing you have to worry about is choosing a route whose difficulty and length are suited to the physical conditions of those taking part in the walk.
We suggest that you try the walk from Praia Grande to Cabo da Roca, for which the Serra de Sintra provides the landscape in the background.
An important series of eleven dinosaur trails and sixty remains of isolated dinosaur footprints have been left imprinted in the almost vertical limestone of the cliff at the southern end of Praia Grande. But the most spectacular feature of this area is the headland of Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point on the European mainland, the place "where the land ends and the sea begins". Its sheer cliffs rise up to a height of one hundred metres above the ocean, offering some quite stunning views.
