Walks around Funchal
Place: Santa Catarina
Photo: DRT Madeira

If you’re looking for rest and relaxation take a gentle walk around Madeira, visiting places where life flows peacefully by without great disturbance.

Visit the island’s towns and make contacts with the local people to get to know the real spirit and the genuine culture of the Madeirans. Discover the centre of Funchal, a traditional, yet fairly cosmopolitan, city by walking through its streets and alleyways which are lined by beautiful, flower-strewn houses. See the old squares that have been carefully restored with beautiful Portuguese pavements of patterned stones, flanked by buildings built in the typical Madeiran style that really are architectural gems.

Let time drift by as you watch the cruise ships and yachts, that have come from many different ports, which habitually stop off in Funchal harbour.
Or simply relax on the bench of a meticulously-tended garden full of exotic and multi-coloured flowers.

You might also want to go for a relaxing boat ride to discover the charms of the island’s coastline, and to see a quite unmissable sunset.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you relax and make the most of the different charms that Madeira has to offer you. Accept the warm hospitality of the Madeiran people while enjoying the island’s varied and high-quality hotel accommodation. You’ll really feel at home.
