Serra da Lousã offers authentic landscapes and historic monuments along with excellent facilities for adventure sports or for just enjoying nature.

To get acquainted with this region, try the gentle way, on foot. Follow the ‘Rota das Aldeias Serranas’ (the Hill Village Route) and witness for yourself how the villages and their traditional customs have withstood the test of time. There are also the natural swimming pools in Senhora da Piedade.

For a fast pace, get on your mountain bike and seek out some different routes, descents, single-tracks and drops, testing yourself to the limit. Jeep rides, by day or night, are another exciting way of exploring these hills.
On your travels, you’ll come across various streams that spring up in the Serra da Lousã hills and converge to form the Zêzere and Ceira rivers. The numerous waterfalls are ideal for refreshing dips. There is also much to see in terms of flora and fauna, and the region is rich in diverse species of mushrooms and butterflies.

And for those of you prepared for the ultimate challenge, the Cabeço da Ortiga, standing 928 metres tall, guarantees a hang-gliding experience that you will never forget.
