Water has a special place in Lisbon’s history. Discover the aqueduct and the fountains of this city on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

Did you know that the world’s highest stone arch is to be found in Lisbon? It is part of the Aqueduto das Águas Livres, the masterpiece of 18th-century Portuguese engineering, which for many decades brought water to the Casa da Mãe d’Água, from where it was distributed around the city.

Today, at Mãe d’Água, you’ll find another kind of liquid. At the "Chafariz do Vinho", wine is the order of the day, and can be drunk either by itself or with cheese, sausages or other tasty delicacies.

Walk through Lisbon’s old quarter and you’ll find all kinds of fountains.
In Alfama, for example, there’s the Chafariz d’El Rei, the city’s first fountain.

We recommend that you enjoy the view of Lisbon from the river, taking an enjoyable meal on board the yacht "Lisboa Vista do Tejo".

And then you should set off to discover the romantic town of Sintra, enjoying a ride in a horse-drawn carriage while you admire the scenery, classified by UNESCO as world heritage.
