If you’re looking for peace and quiet, you’re bound to find it in Évoramonte. Within its walls is a village made up of just two extremely quiet streets. At the highest point in the centre stands the great 16th-century tower, bound by three ropes of stone that encircle the monument and end in a large knot.
Sample some of the local cuisine in one of the three restaurants here, whilst admiring the landscape, or enjoy a meal in the new part of town built outside the walls.
And if you’re feeling more energetic, why not go for a bike ride? To really appreciate the region however, we recommend that you stay in one of the comfortable Country Tourism houses to be found nearby.
And while you’re staying there be sure to discover the architectural heritage of Estremoz or Évora, two beautiful Alentejo cities.
