The Dão wine-growing region produces quality wines with a long tradition. It is 'protected' by the mountains of the Estrela and Caramulo, which are always there in front of you wherever you go, offering a variety of interesting contrasts.
Visit some of the Dão's most typical estates, such as Casa de Santar, in Nelas, Casa da Ínsua, in Penalva do Castelo, and Quinta da Pelada, in Seia. And have the pleasure of relaxing in a manor house such as Casa Abreu Madeira, in Canas de Senhorim, Solar de Torrozelo, in Seia, or Casa de Fataunços, in Vouzela. Houses where the tradition of hospitality reigns supreme, and where you can make yourself at home.
Take the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the region by walking round Viseu - a town of character and grandeur - where you can visit the Museu Grão Vasco, which has an important collection of sacred art and sixteenth-century painting. In Mangualde, have a look at the Palácio dos Condes de Anadia.
Discover, too, the gastronomy of Centro de Portugal, which includes various typical dishes based on kid, hare and wild boar. Be sure to try the regional sausages and the famous mountain cheese, always accompanied by a glass of Dão wine!
