Sailing in Cascais
Place: Costa do Estoril

Beside the Atlantic Ocean, on the northern shore of the Tagus estuary, the ancient fishing village of Cascais keeps a great sailing tradition alive.

The fashionable seaside resort of Cascais has been the preferred destination of the European aristocracy for more than a century.

A recently constructed marina makes the town perfect for those who want to go sailing. The region has a mild climate, with calm seas and sandy beaches. The town itself has a rich architectural heritage, including the famous miniature palaces.

The old town centre, with its winding streets closed to traffic, provides the perfect setting to explore the town on foot. Don’t miss a visit to the Santini ice cream parlour, considered one of the best in Portugal.
Visit the Serra de Sintra mountain range and the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its beautiful landscape and unique architectural styles will make for a memorable walk.

Take advantage of Lisbon’s proximity to Cascais and the many leisure options the capital provides. Closer still is Estoril and its famous hotels and Europe’s largest casino, the ideal place to try your luck.

West of Cascais is Guincho, where you’ll find a number of golf courses and a world famous beach of the same name, known for its exceptional windsurfing conditions.
