Islands: fishing & diving

Fishing or diving in the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores provides a memorable experience.

In the seas around Madeira, big game fish species are plentiful, attracting fishermen from all over the world. Tuna, albacore and marlin are all to be found in the local waters.

As for diving, the Garajau Nature Reserve is famous worldwide, while the seabed around Porto Santo provides some amazing underwater scenery.

In the Azores, big game fishing is available in particular around the islands of São Miguel, Santa Maria and Faial, but all of the seas around the archipelago are perfect for anglers.
Diving in the Azores is a truly spectacular experience. Depending on your level of experience, you can always get advice from the local companies that specialise in this field. For fantastic underwater conditions, the seas around the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Flores have much of interest to offer divers.
