All around there are small farms, where cork-oaks and olive-trees grow in the midst of wheat fields and pastureland. The vineyards where some of the Alentejo wine is produced complete the landscape of Telheiro. Take a walk around the village. See the 18th-century fountain, the old public wash-houses with their large schist slabs, the former olive-oil press that is now a café-restaurant, and the museum of the newly restored Convento da Orada.

Discover the local handicraft. Here you will still find hand-made woven baskets and objects made of cork.

Get on your bicycle and set off to discover the megalithic monuments in the midst of natural surroundings, the cromlech of Xerez, the menhirs of Outeiro and Bulhão or the dolmens of Olival da Pega.

If you drive a little further up to the village of Monsaraz. You’ll find it worth the trouble when you see the schist streets inside the walls, the architectural heritage and the views over the immense landscape from the hilltop.
