Family fun in Lisboa
Place: Serra de Aire
Photo: RT Leiria-Fátima

The kids will love this outing. Let them follow in the footsteps of the giants that passed through this area millions of years ago, and see everything that the west of Portugal has to offer. One week will not be enough.

This is an irrefutable proposal if we put ourselves in the shoes of the younger members of the family - a visit to the Natural Monument of Dinosaur Footprints in the Serra de Aire Nature Park, which contains a large number of fossil records of these giants that populated the planet a while back. The footprint record is the oldest and longest in the world. From there it is only a short hop to Lourinhã to visit the museum in that city, which contains a nest of dinosaur eggs that in terms of size is unique in the world. All of the ingredients for a trip full of emotions are present.

Enjoy the beaches of the Atlantic coast, in fishing villages such as Baleal where the gentle waves permit bodyboarding or surf with no risks for children.
You can also take a windsurfing or sailing course in Óbidos lagoon, or just play with the children in the calm waters.

In Nazaré, the home of fishermen, and one that is more characteristic than many others, discover the legend of the other footprint, the -footprint- of D. Fuas Roupinho’s horsehigh above everything else, in Sítio.

As an alternative, set out with the children to the Berlengas islands, a nature reserve inhabited by countless marine species. The proximity of this zone to Lisbon makes it an easy option.
