Discover the Serra da Lousã mountains. From the castle you can see the hermitages dedicated to Our Lady of the Afflicted, to John the Baptist, to Our Lady of Agony and, right on the summit of the cliff, the chapel of Our Lady of Piety. This can be the starting point for one of the many routes that, whether on foot or by jeep, allow you to discover the Serra da Lousã mountains.
At Alto do Trevim, at an altitude of 1202 metres, the rounded summits of the schist mountains and the huge dramatic sheer rock faces create a majestic scene.
Admire the villages built with schist, bearing precious witness to human occupation.
Discovering the mountain range is a stimulating experience. Traces of forests containing Californian redwood, cork oak or laurel, oak and chestnut trees appear on the humid mountainsides. Listen to the cuckoos and be amazed by the flight of the European jays. Climb up to Penedos de Góis, by jeep and then on foot and, from way up there, take in the breathtaking view.
