The peaceful spa of Vimeiro is located in the district of Torres Vedras, in the beautiful Western Region, and is reputed to have been known since remote antiquity. The high point in its history was an important battle that took place there between the Anglo-Portuguese forces and the French army during the Napoleonic invasions (19th century).
