Spa of São Pedro do Sul/
Spa of São Pedro do Sul
Place: S. Pedro do Sul

Set in the beautiful River Vouga Valley, the São Pedro do Sul spa was once a favourite haunt of Portuguese royalty.

It is believed that the first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques (12th century) bathed in São Pedro do Sul, perhaps seeking to gather all his strength for the reconquista of Portugal from the Moors. You, too, can opt for relaxation and regeneration with a stay at São Pedro do Sul.

To the south, the Serra do Caramulo hills, which are also home to a famous spring of pure and crystalline water, offer beautiful countryside.
Visit the local museum with a noteworthy collection of old-timer cars and paintings by Dalí and Picasso. In between your spa treatments you can also practice water sports such as angling and canoeing, which are both invigorating for mind and body.

Round off you stay at the spa with a visit to Viseu, home to an architectural heritage that is well worth seeing.
