Parque Mineiro Cova dos Mouros
The Mining Park enables visitors to observe the vestiges of a copper mine, with abundant signs of mining activities from the Copper age to the Roman era. Visitors can embark on a 750 metre pedestrian open air itinerary, where they will find old copper mines and prehistoric reconstitutions, including a primitive dwelling and utensils, a replica of a primitive forge used to smelt copper and representations of human working figures from the era. The Park will allow you to journey back in time, in a trip to the remote past, where the daily lives of our ancestors are recreated, ranging from the Copper age (2500 BC) to the Roman era.
When visiting the site, don't miss the opportunity to go on a donkey ride. You may also acquire local handicrafts from the municipality of Alcoutim and take a refreshment as you marvel at the stunning landscape of the North-East Algarve.
