Monuments
Dating back to the end of the 15th century, the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Pópulo was the chapel of the spa hospital founded by the queen, Dona Leonor.
Architecturally, it belongs to the early Manueline cycle, its bell-tower being most imposing because of its beauty and grandeur. The single-nave interior contains some admirable decorative tiles and displays evident Manueline features on its beautiful vaulted ceiling. The triumphal arch is worthy of note and is decorated with the royal coat of arms and a triptych originating from the school of Lisbon, which flourished in the 16th century.
