Let’s Sea is an official side event of the UN Ocean Conference, in which VisitPortugal, the WSL (World Surf League), MEO and EDP come together to contribute to the debate on the need for innovation and technology, aiming to drive industries towards a sustainable transition – economic, ecological and social.
Surfing is a sport linked to the Ocean which must lead its protection, setting goals and creating communication anchors that will allow to mobilize communities and partners, thus actively contributing to goals 14 and 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The "Unwanted Shapes – Zero Impact, Full Performance" project will be presented. This project wants to mobilize the entire surfing industry to switch to surf boards made out of material with no environmental impact until 2028, year of the Olympic Games.
The "EDP Surf for Tomorrow" project, which will also see the light, aims to train young surfers and develop their talent with a reinforced commitment to the protection of the oceans, creating a generation more responsible and aware of the need to implement a regenerative approach to the marine ecosystem.
Let’s Sea will take place on June 29 near the Blue Zone, at Jardim da Música, located in Parque das Nações, from 9 to 10 am.
