Are You a Tourist?
After all, what is "being a tourist"? We also want to question "residents" (locals) and "visitors" (tourists), to discuss tourist practices, and the arbitrariness and the limits of what "being a tourist" is, ultimately. The exhibition will be complemented, as has been customary, with a parallel programme, to be announced shortly.
The exposition route is punctuated with objects and testimonies collected between visitors and residents, who tell us about a wider experience of 'tourist' encounters or missed encounters, of people crossing each other on different routes, with different rhythms and motivations. We also stepped back in time and built a nucleus to understand how tourist practices have evolved in Portugal and the rest of the world.
