La Vida Secreta

Born in Figueras, Catalonia, Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marquis of Dalí de Púbol, was the leading exponent of Surrealism. He liked to say about himself "The only difference between a madman and me is that I am not mad." In August 1929, he met Elena Diákonova (Gala), through René Magritte and Luis Buñuel.
From this meeting, a polyhedral connection was born, which would precipitate Gala's divorce that same year, and both were married in Paris in 1932. Deeply cultured, Gala became not only Dalí's muse, but also his art dealer, advisor, and administrator. The bond between them was so deep that in 1950 the painter said, "In signing my works as Gala-Dalí, I am simply giving a name to an existential truth, because I would not exist without my twin Gala. In this important partnership between the Little Opera Festival of Zamora and the Darcos Season we find Nuno Côrte-Real, perhaps the most prolific Portuguese composer in the field of opera. After "The Mountain" and "The Bronze Boy" (2007), "Banksters" (2011), "The dietetic dilemmas of a middle matrioska" (2016) and "Song of the Bandit" (2018), comes La vida secreto, premiered in Leiria in October 2021. The libretto, by Martha Alonso, is based on the diary that Gala wrote throughout his life, only discovered in 2011, in the castle of Púbol (offered by Dalí in 1969), and published under the title "La vida secreta". As the composer tells us "this pocket opera serves as a starting point for a transposition of the universe of his work to the present day, where the digitalization of relationships has taken on challenging and absurd proportions.
