The art of basketry is an indispensable element of regional handicrafts. Unfortunately, we no longer find many craftsmen in the municipality of Ourém who produce basketry pieces, either with a utilitarian nature or with a bold and innovative decorative sense. The great representative of this art in Ourém is the artisan Isabel Graça. In the exhibition at the Biblioteca Municipal de Ourém we can appreciate more common pieces, such as the traditional baskets and baskets with various uses, either for traditional agricultural tasks or for new domestic and decorative uses. Besides the more common pieces, we can also observe other pieces framed in the new decorative concepts of today's society, created with an aesthetic and innovative sense.
