Land of legendary and brave sailors, who risked their lives in the cold seas of Terranova and Greenland, the Municipality of Ílhavo is, by excellence and tradition, the Portuguese capital of Bacalhau, whose epic occupies a remarkable part of its history.
During five days in August, the Codfish and its derivatives, prepared and made by local associations, are the center of attention in a gastronomic show where there is no lack of wines from the Bairrada demarcated region and the famous padas from Vale de Ílhavo. The Festival also includes several activities and shows, designed for all ages and tastes, such as handicrafts, exhibitions, music concerts with the presence of renowned national artists, showcookings and other activities designed, increasingly, for families.
