The contemporary ceramics exhibition at the Cadaval Palace in Évora was born out of the complicity of two sisters: Diana and Alexandra de Cadaval. Diana and Alexandra proposed this exhibition. The sisters were joined by 35 other artists of various nationalities, all of them aware of the importance of being represented in a country with such a long tradition in this art as Portugal.
For this exhibition, Pierre Passebon, the curator, sought the help of three friends: Terry de Gunzburg, a collector and patron; Antonine Catzeflis, an extraordinary talent spotter; and Louis Lefebvre, a specialist in ancient and contemporary ceramics. Alexandra de Cadaval entrusted the set design to her friend Cyrille Martin. Many artists were inspired by the exhibition to create an original work of art for this historic site. Each of them knows the wonder of the land that takes shape and comes to life. This connection is a dialog between the artist and the land.
