Traditional construction of the Ribatejo region from the end of the last century, the Casa do Foral is situated in a small rural town called Rio Maior. The same family has owned the house for four generations and it has recently suffered some changes with the purpose of installing some facilities for the welcoming tourists. In one of the rooms of the house, we can see walls decorated with traditional azulejos dating from the end of the 18th century. The name Casa do Foral originated from the fact that, in the past, the various lands and houses of the surroundings payed the "foro" ou "foral" to the owner of the house.
