Built in the latter half of the 18th century, and known as the Cathedral of Serra da Estrela Cheese, the Queijo Serra da Estrela Manor House in itself justifies a visit. But what makes that visit special is the opportunity to buy, and of guaranteed top quality, the renowned Serra da Estrela cheese.  In addition to this centrepiece in the regional cuisine, visitors may try a range of other specialities or buy some for later enjoyment.

Inside the Manor House, there is an exhibition of articles traditionally used to produce cheese, from milking right through to the gourmet’s table.
