In the World Travel Awards (WTA) for Europe ceremony that took place last Sunday, 4th September 2016, in Forte Village, Sardinia, Italy, Portugal won 24 awards, 10 more than last year. In the year that marks 30 years of the Blue Flag system, a total of 314 beaches and 17 recreational ports and marinas were attributed the distinction in Portugal in 2016, for the first time breaking the 300 barrier in terms of Blue Flag beaches.
