The Gardens and the Palace of the Marquis of Pombal, classified as national monument, is an example of our valuable 18th century heritage, designed by Carlos Mardel, a renowned Hungarian architect who played a major role in the "pombaline" reconstruction of Lisbon, following the earthquake of 1755.
