Quinta da Balança
Dating from the sixteenth century, the stone house of the Quinta da Balança in Terras do Bouro provides the perfect base for visits to the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
Located halfway of a hillside, it offers a wide view over the Rio Homem valley and Santo António de Mixões da Serra, a foothill of the Serra Amarela.
This granite house has a spacious lounge with a panelled wood ceiling and a fireplace, a romantic typical veranda with a wooden ceiling, three bedrooms and a kitchen. The outside area is surrounded by stone walls, and there is a small granite water tank with running water in the garden at the front of the stone pillars of the veranda. Beside the house there is a stone corn granary and a wisteria bower over a stone table which is suitable for open-air meals.
The estate, stretching from the house down the hillside, includes a vineyard and an oak and ash wood. At the top of the estate there is a garden area with a wide granite water tank.
