17th-century manor-house in the port of São Roque do Pico, in the foothills of the mountain, opposite the dry harbour of Cais Velho, with a magnificent view over Pico, the island of São Jorge and the sea, where you can both swim and fish only 20 metres from the front door.Classified as a building of public interest, it is decorated in the English style with furniture made of polished mahogany and brass, flower-patterned upholstery and curtains, souvenirs of sea voyages, maps and miniature boats, all in the cosiness of a solid port house looking directly towards the immensity of the ocean.Currently, the Casa das Barcas operates under the system of Manor-House Tourism, being classified as such by the Regional Directorate of Tourism.
