Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Preces
This Carmelite sanctuary was established after the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Alto do Colcurinho in the sixteenth century. A chapel of Nossa Senhora das Necessidades was built on the site. Problems of access led to the construction of a chapel in a site which was easier to reach. The sanctuary has a Barroque church with 12 chapels of prayer, including a group of sculptures portraying the life of Christ.
The pilgrimage of Nossa Senhora das Preces is held on the first Sunday in July.
