In Vila do Conde, São João is celebrated for practically the entire month of June, and the parties, shows and activities never stop!

The program celebrates the patron saint São João, whose image is venerated in the 16th century Mother Church. It mixes religious worship with profane acts, in a festival rooted in popular tradition and with centuries-old links to the Convent of Santa Clara.

The extensive program includes shows, concerts, parades, exhibitions and its highlights are the Procession, the Stewards and Ethnographic Parade, the traditional Going to the Beach and the Great Night of St. John, with the marches of Vila do Conde's lace-making ranches, joined by dazzling fireworks.
