The great master of romantic seduction, Frédéric Chopin preferred the intimacy of salons to large concert halls. It's not surprising that he didn't compose symphonies, and that the few works in which he combined the piano with the orchestra date from the beginning of his career, when he was seeking public notoriety. He premiered his only piano concertos at the age of 20, still in Warsaw, before moving to Paris.
