The Franco-Portuguese artist Isabelle Ferreira (France, 1972) is presenting the exhibition Notre Feu at MAAT, a project that revisits the memory of clandestine Portuguese emigration to France during the dictatorship.

The daughter of migrants, Ferreira is inspired by practices of the time, such as in L'Invention du courage (the leap), where she recreates the gesture of migrants who handed over torn photographs to ensure news of their arrival. The show combines colors taken from plants along the routes traveled, ceramics that evoke the roughness of the mountains and photographs of the landscapes crossed. A large final collage reinforces this narrative between personal memory and collective testimony.
