All Beauty Must Die: Patrícia Almeida
All Beauty Must Die: Patrícia Almeida
Events
All Beauty Must Die, by Patrícia Almeida (Lisbon, 1970-2017) in collaboration with David-Alexandre Guéniot, was developed between 2009 and 2011 at festivals such as Paredes de Coura and Ermal. The project relates youth, freedom and music as a collective force in idyllic, almost timeless settings.
The title, inspired by John Keats and Nick Cave, adds a tragic and romantic dimension to the images, contrasting the vigor and fragility of youth. Taking multiple forms – photographs, videos and publications – the work is presented at Serralves as twelve photographs and a video, preserving a poetic look at ephemerality, memory and desire.
