Quinta do Barrieiro – Art Selection by Maria Leal da Costa is one of Northern Alentejo’s best-kept secrets. Perched at 750 meters above sea level in the heart of the Serra de S. Mamede Natural Park in Marvão, it offers an exclusive retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility, surrounded by lush landscapes where nature and creativity meet.

Owners Maria Leal da Costa and José Manuel Coelho have transformed the former agricultural estate into a unique lodging experience. Every house is distinct, shaped by the art it showcases, the architecture that defines it, and the natural surroundings that envelop it. Works created by the artist herself breathe life into the spaces, while architectural design gives them their form, achieving a rare and authentic harmony.

Set across five hectares, the estate includes eight accommodations ranging from T0 and T1 apartments to a T3 and a loft, alongside Maria’s exhibition gallery (now also serving as the breakfast room), a swimming pool with panoramic mountain views, a fish pond, two lakes, and constant encounters with local wildlife.

The newest addition, the Alentejo Sculpture Park, further highlights the Quinta’s purpose which is promoting the region as a tourist destination, celebrating local products, and showcasing the essential role of the arts in life.
