Manoel de Oliveira and Portuguese Cinema 3. Turns of Life– Yesterday as today (1990-2015)
Events
As part of the Serralves Museum, the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira presents the third part of a cycle of three exhibitions dedicated to the extraordinary personal archive (entirely deposited at Serralves) of Manoel de Oliveira, one of Portugal's most emblematic filmmakers and a must-see artist for any cinephile.
Organized in a time sequence, the first of these exhibitions, entitled "A Bem da Nação (1930-1970)", focused on the Estado Novo era. The second stage, "Liberdade! (1970-1990)", focused on the period immediately before and after the Revolution of April 25, 1974. Completing the trilogy, this exhibition examines the twenty-five years between 1990 and 2015, the year of his death, also completing the chronology of Portuguese cinema that forms the backdrop to this review.
