The exhibition *Vexation of Spirit* presents, for the first time at Serralves, Count Duerckheim’s collection of contemporary art, considered one of the most significant private collections in Europe.

Featuring approximately 90 works by 34 international artists, the exhibition explores themes such as religion, society, and war, reflecting on the moral, historical, and political challenges of the past 70 years. The title, inspired by the biblical book of Ecclesiastes, evokes an existential unease that runs throughout the entire exhibition. Curated by Marta Moreira de Almeida, the exhibition fosters a dialogue between contemporary art, historical memory, and current issues.
