What started out as the Market Night, which was held on December 23rd in the Mercado dos Lavradores and the surrounding area, has expanded a little all over the island of Madeira and will now take place between December 9th and 23rd.

The Market Nights are the best way to experience the true essence of Madeira's Christmas spirit. The highlight continues to be the Mercado dos Lavradores night in Funchal, which always takes place on December 23rd, when people from all over the island come to the capital to do their Christmas shopping. At night, the market's fish market is animated with traditional Christmas carols.
