The Jazz ao Centro Festival—Coimbra International Jazz Encounters (FJaC)—will celebrate its 24th edition in 2026, further solidifying its role as one of the most important initiatives dedicated to jazz in Portugal.
Established in 2003 and co-organized by the Jazz ao Centro Clube and the City of Coimbra, the festival features a program that combines concerts, premieres, and innovative artistic projects, while upholding jazz’s philosophy of “honoring the past and exploring the future.”
In addition to its artistic programming, it is strongly committed to cultural outreach and social impact, promoting educational activities, workshops, and performances aimed at the school community.
Under the theme “A Festival for a Region,” it is expanding its presence to several municipalities in the Coimbra Metropolitan Area.
This edition also features the exhibition “Women in Jazz in Portugal,” dedicated to prominent figures on the national scene, and involves various cultural venues throughout the city.
More than just a music festival, FJaC is a project dedicated to cultural participation, the promotion of the arts, education, and bringing communities together.
