Piano Garden - Annea Lockwood
Piano Garden - Annea Lockwood
Events
The Serralves Foundation and Porto Pianofest present Piano Garden, an installation by Annea Lockwood created between 1969 and 1970, as part of an initiative that expands the festival beyond the traditional format of concerts and recitals.
Part of the Piano Transplants series, the work features a piano partially buried in the ground, left to the elements - vegetation, weather, insects, and animals - which transform it into a sound-producing object in a state of constant change. A pioneer in experimental music and sound art, Lockwood explores the boundaries of composition and listening through the relationship between sound and nature.
