Inspired by the dance rituals of the Makonde people, Idio Chichava’s “Vagabundus” brings together thirteen Mozambican dancers in a production where body, voice, and memory intertwine.

The dancing and singing, accompanied only by the performers’ personal belongings, evoke experiences of migration, survival, and a sense of collective belonging. Amid traditional and contemporary songs from Mozambique, the continuous movement transforms the stage into a space for sharing and resistance. More than just a series of choreographed movements, the performance celebrates the body as a place of encounter, identity, and transformation, in a living ritual about heritage and origins.
