One of the most celebrated operas of all time, Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, combines humor, music, and virtuosity in a fast-paced comedy. In Seville, the young Count Almaviva tries to win Rosina’s heart, under the watchful eye of her guardian, Dr. Bartolo, with the help of Figaro, the city’s resourceful barber. Through disguises, misunderstandings, and schemes, Rossini weaves a tale of love and freedom, marked by arias and ensembles that demand exceptional vocal skill. With a libretto by Cesare Sterbini, the opera premiered in Rome in 1816 and is now coming to Portugal.
