Pedro Cabrita Reis – "with a heart free of care"
Pedro Cabrita Reis – "with a heart free of care"
Events
Curated by João Pinharanda, this exhibition takes its title from Hesiod's "Les Travaux et les Jours". The author, Pedro Cabrita Reis, is one of Portugal's most internationalized artists. Release in the 1980s, his work quickly expanded from painting to sculpture and installation.
The artist's creative process is omnivorous in its desire to recover/integrate signs of urban or rural life, whether they come from "high" or "low" culture. From debris, rejected fragments, banal and anonymous objects associated in an unexpected and effective way, his aim is to magnify, through great gestures of discursive imposition, signs of what could be seen as a fall in civilization.
