In Ch’ttahh (“dancer”), Bilal El Had returns to Moroccan chaabi, a popular form of music and dance associated with weddings, street parties, and family gatherings, transforming his personal experiences into a work that blends traditional rhythms, songs, and symbols with a contemporary approach.
Somewhere between homage and reinvention, the show explores gestures and practices that challenge gender norms, reflecting on cultural memory, identity, and social change, and drawing on humor, conflict, and the expressiveness of chaabi to imagine new possible futures; It is presented in English and Arabic, with subtitles in Portuguese and English.
