Equus ferus caballus, the scientific name for the domesticated horse, is the title of the exhibition at the National Pantheon featuring works by Júlio Pomar (1926–2018), held in honor of the centennial of the painter’s birth.

The exhibition features depictions of horses from different phases of his career, ranging from Don Quixote (1959) to the triptych Tropel (1989), including several Tauromaquias from the 1960s. Amid a variety of color schemes, the animals appear as real, earthly figures. The exhibition is the result of a partnership between Culturgest and the National Pantheon and is on display in the monument’s temporary exhibition hall.
