Sketch Tour Portugal
A trip to Portugal with notebooks, pencils, graphite, Indian ink and watercolours.
We invited 22 urban sketchers to visit Portugal and share their drawings and their talent, heightening awareness about the country from a different perspective. In black and white or in colour, there is plenty to explore: the landscapes, nature and heritage, the cuisine and the people, the nooks and crannies that pass us by.
You’ll be surprised by these artistic moments and inspired for your next trip to Portugal.
Watch the video about what will be happening in the coming months and stay tuned! Here on the social networks we’ll be disclosing the different challenges and the sketchbook-diaries that offer a new look at Portugal.
Sketch Tour Portugal - Fátima
Fátima is one of the most important sanctuaries of the Marian cult cherished by the Vatican. It is built on the site where Our Lady appeared to three little shepherds, Lúcia, Jacinta and Francisco, in 1917. The celebration of the Centenary, in 2017, is therefore a very special date. When you enter the sanctuary you feel an air of silence, tranquillity and great spirituality. Of the various religious occasions during the year, the 13th of May is the most important date and the Candlelight Procession on the night of the 12th is one of the most impressive ceremonies.
These particularly special moments were captured in a drawing by Kasia, from Poland, Rob Sketcherman, from Hong Kong, and Eduardo Bajzek, from Brazil, accompanied by Portuguese sketcher Fernanda Lamelas. Drawing while in the midst of the thousands of pilgrims from all over the world who were in attendance at the Sanctuary was a unique experience for the sketchers, who allowed themselves to be touched by the energy and by a spirit of universal bonding.
Discover Fátima through the drawings of these four sketchers.
